A Little About Us
In the summer of 1985, Tom Wood purchased 72 Butterworth Lane, an old victorian house in a poor state of repair. He transformed the property and opened Ashgrove House Care Home. It truly was a family business from the start, with Tom’s mother working alongside her son. The family then quickly built an extension and provided high quality residential care.
Tom later sold the home to move into other businesses, however his passion for the care sector was never far from his mind. In the year 2000 he purchased back Ashgrove House with his wife Carol and built a second extension to increase the the size of the home adding new dinning rooms, lounges and more bedrooms.
In April 2012, Tom’s son Andrew Wood joined the business as a company director. Andrew had always been interested in the family business and often helped out in many areas whilst studying for his degree in Business Management. In October 2012, the family purchased Longwood Lodge a 40 bedded care home that provided a high level of care but needed major refurbishment.
